Here’s part 4 of the Gospel of John Bible Study that Pastor Mark has been teaching the past month or so. This one deals with the first three signs. And there’s a very good question near the end of the class on why Jesus tells the man who He just healed in the Pool of Siloam, “Go and sin no more, lest something worse befall you.”

Thank you, Pastor Mark.

And thanks to flickr and Tita Abbott, for the photo.
You like Bible? OK…here’s a Bible study on the Gospel of John, given by Pastor Mark.

Some of you may consider this quite a departure from the sort of Bible study that you are used to. That’s ok. Another perspective can be a very enlightening thing.
If you don’t hear the Bible as a matter of life and death then it will just end up being “religious noise”…and will morph into “principles for daily living”…which won’t do you a bit of good when it’s your turn before the Living God.
We’ll be studying the book of Romans with Pastor Mark for several months.
In these beginning verses, Paul establishes some very key points right from the git-go.
You might want to have a Bible in front of you, and maybe even a copy of a Greek New Testament, if you want to follow along as Pastor Mark highlights some key words and phrases in the original language.
This is from Luther’s preface to his commentary on the Book of Romans:
__
“This Epistle is really the chief part of the New Testament and the very purest Gospel, and is worthy not only that every Christian should know it word for word, by heart, but occupy himself with it every day, as the daily bread of the soul. It can never be read or pondered too much, and the more it is dealt with the more precious it becomes, and the better it tastes.”

Next week, Pastor Mark will start an in-depth Bible study on the Book of Romans. If all goes well, we will record these classes and put them up on this site for your edification.
So…stay tuned for Romans!
(I’m going to start reading a chapter or two a day, until then, so I won’t be completely out in left field when the class starts)
If anyone happens to live in Orange County, CA (or nearby), you are, of course, invited to join us on Tuedays at 7pm for the class. BYOB (but, if you don’t have a Bible, we have extras for you to use)
