A soft spot for those who would wreck the faith of others

Sorry, but I have just got to say something to my fellow “Christians” who have blogs wherein they seem to enjoy ripping the Christian faith.Capital: Second Temptation of Christ by Sacred Destinations

“Why?”

Why give atheists a forum to spew their evil slander against the faith of Christ and the Living God?

Is there not enough of this vitriol coming from the world?  Are you like some little kid that enjoys ripping the wings off of butterflies?

Do us all a big favor and leave. That’s right…get out of the church and go on your merry way. Try and do something constructive for a change.

You are of another spirit.

  1. Could you give an example of what it means to “rip the Christian faith”? I think I know, but I want to make certain.

  2. Darius,

Anything that plants seeds of doubt, or disparages the Work of Christ to save sinners.

The world, the flesh, and the devil are enough to contend with.

We don’t need so-called open minded, humanistic, “Christians” who are losing their faith to spread their poison to the rest of the church.

I think we can all slip into that mode, (only briefly I’d hope), but we need to call each other on it when it happens. If there is no repentance, then the person needs to be shown the door.

  3. “We don’t need so-called open minded, humanistic, “Christians” who are losing their faith to spread their poison to the rest of the church.”

Amen. Yeah, that’s what I thought you meant. That would apply quite well to Rob Bell, who I mentioned on my blog recently as you know. Or many in the Emerging Church…

  4. Rob Bell came to mind for me too Darius……

  5. I do know a blog that does this on a regular basis. It’s sad because it’s a blog that exists as a sort of “church” for people who are out of fellowship because of being hurt within the church. They regularly call out specific churches and pastors and talk about how they’re failing. And the chit chat is basically more of the same and it really verges on slander. I visited a few times, trying to be an encouragement (ha!) and it just seemed to be so dark and discouraging in there I just couldn’t do it any more. I don’t even know if they realize they’re coming off that way. I do believe there are times when the body of Christ needs to be warned about false prophets, but where the true body is involved, we need to encourage and pray for our brothers and sisters.

  6. Is this about me or Naked Pastor…interesting anyways.

“Do us all a big favor and leave. That’s right…get out of the church and go on your merry way. Try and do something constructive for a change. You are of another spirit.” (Steve)

    (a) I don’t attend a church
    (b) I am on my merry way
    (c) I am doing something constructive for society
    (d) Explain what spirit it is you think I am of exactly?

I just think the church is sour they are getting exposed in various ways for their actions towards people I would consider, at one time, innocent in their midst. Now they have legitimate problems with an organization that refused to deal with them – so paved the way for them to leave instead of work through these tougher things. Some may have just quit believing because it all become so non-sensical and not of the ‘spirit’ they perceived in the scriptures.

This all works a few ways Steve – and as much as you love your faith and see no flaws…many see the flaws – and usually they start with their treatment by people of the faith – then work outwards. All in all it is probably healthy for them to discuss these things – as much as you might not agree with them – they need to get some of this off their minds I believe. I don’t see any of them in here bothering you and your friends.

  7. If I wanted to tell people who I was talking aboput I would have.

I did not out of Christian charity.

Discussing flaws is one thing, I critique all the time…but working to tear down one’s faith and giving a forum to those outside the church who want to destroy the church, is quite another.

  8. It was Temaskian wasn’t it…man you 2 are funny when you banter back n forth

  9. naked pastor seems to be going thru a really rough time., but I haven’t heard him rip anybody, I will go check.
Seriously, I don’t get it either, if you don’t like football, don’t go to the game. Don’t say you are Christian and shoot at us, or say you are a believer, but then say you are not sure about the whole “God” thing. What is that?
Steve and i disagree about works, the law, and baptism, but i love him as a brother. we disagree about stuff, but we believe in believing. That is a whole lot in common.
